Domain Registry of America scam

For those that haven’t realised it yet, yes The Domain Registry of America IS a scam – they send official looking ‘Domain name Expiration Notice’ letters inviting domain registrants to renew using their services at inflated prices. Under no circumstances should anyone use these services as the methods used are deceptive and I have known clients throw money at DROA, thinking their domains are about to be lost forever. They then find that recovering them takes over 120 days and nameserver control is lost to them and/or their web providers, resulting in loss of service in their website functionality.

DROA have had a Federal injunction imposed against them in the States by the Federal Trade Commission, which can be found here (PDF). They still continue to use their misleading and illegal tactics on the unwary domain owner.

Please don’t be fooled!
